I learnt

I watched the Annie Leibowitz movie (doccie, rather) on Tuesday evening.

One moment. One photo struck me. Yoko’s narration of John’s vulnerability but choice around the photo probably helped its intense kick of emotion.

Being in love is a fkcing incredible state of being.

I am being jolted about at every tiny little prism blink of this “in love” thing. I wouldn’t give it up for anything (job opening, travel chance, solo success, friend, anything) in the world. I waited for it. I never needed it. And I am awed by all of it.
… And I am certainly not going to disrespect it by explaining it out with arbitrarily chosen words.

So while most of the Beatle-mania’d world seemed to hate Yoko for taking John’s attention, he had no sensible choice in not going with it.

You missed the movie?? But it is still on circuit up here in Jozi. PLUS, it would work better for TV. You really must see it. Very inspiring for anyone creative!

Beautiful!

That photo of J&Y says it all. That's how I feel about my wife. I just want to hang on to her and tell her how much I love her. My heart still skips a jump when I see her. And when I walk home at night I want to run to get to her. And I have been married to her for 15 years. Man, love is unbelievable.

AA - I also identify with John, actually! That said, my boyfriend would probably also identify with John. It's that vulnerability thing, maybe, that is one of the best indicators of being in love/ realising how beautiful being in love is!! Cause, bluddy hell, being vulnerable is one of my biggest fears and hesitancies!!

I think that In My Life is probably one of the most profoundly beautiful love songs ever written, and I just hope to hell I meet someone who makes me able to put everything else I've seen or done in the shade.

So often we forget that there is real, unfussy love like that out there, so it's so nice to remember it does exist!

P.S. AA, it's especially nice to see men being able to admit to love like that. :-)

Rox - I really like that word "ufussy" for love!

As for AA's love for his wife, you should have read a gorgeous post he did about her and his kids, I think it was the same week as this post.

Red Frame - :) Your comment made me grin! Yeah, indeed!
